Adrian Boyd joined Hospital Radio Bedside in July 2009 and simply wishes he had joined many years earlier!
He now presents the Saturday morning IKIDZ childrens show from 9am to 11am and regularly "fills in" for other presenters. He absolutely loves being at the station and simply "can't wait" for Saturday mornings every week!
Adrian collects requests from the childrens` wards at Poole Hospital (Acrewood and Bearwood) on a Friday evening and then plays them out on the Saturday. He also often records patients announcing their song choices which makes for really good radio.
Several local schools have got involved with the show too. Adrian either visits the various schools with his portable recording equipment or invites classes into the studios to record their contributions there.
His involvement at HRB includes attending as many of the fundraising functions as he possibly can.
"If a year ago someone had told me that I would have my own radio programme I would probably have laughed in their face!" he said.
Away from HRB, he works for the RNLI full time and is also an educational volunteer for them. He is also heavily involved in collecting for the NSPCC.
Adrian has also ran an amateur football club since 1985, although the team now plays only Veteran friendlies (over 35s) once or twice a month. The team is called Oakheath United. "We are all around 40 to 45 years old now so can`t commit to league football every week but playing occasional friendlies against other veteran teams is absolutely ideal".
Other sports interests involve watching and supporting Poole Speedway and Hampshire cricket.
He regularly goes out jogging and also plays 5 a side twice a week. "I need to keep fit or I will pile the pounds with the amount of food I eat!!"
